Kapi Learn is a classroom learning service run by Kapi ("we", "us"). Students use it to do lessons their teacher created. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We wrote it to be readable by students as well as parents and teachers.
The short version
- We collect the minimum needed to run your lessons: who you are, which classes you are in, and your progress.
- There are no ads and no advertising trackers in Kapi Learn.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Students can only join a class with a code or QR invite from their teacher.
- Your lesson answers are seen by you and your teacher, not by other students.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with your school Google account, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We use these to create your Kapi account.
- Class membership. When you enter a class code or scan a QR invite, we record that you joined that class and which school or organization it belongs to.
- Learning progress. As you do lessons we record which cards you completed, your answers, and your mastery progress, so your teacher can see how you are doing and so you can continue where you left off.
- Device information for sync. We set a random device identifier in a cookie and record basic device details (such as device type, operating system, and browser) so your progress can follow you between a school computer, a home computer, and other devices.
- Sign-in session. A cookie keeps you signed in. Without it you would have to sign in on every page.
That is the whole list. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or browsing history, and we do not use analytics trackers or advertising pixels.
How we use information
- To run your lessons and save your progress.
- To show your teacher how their class is doing.
- To keep you signed in and sync your progress across devices.
- To keep the service safe, for example preventing misuse of class codes.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of students for any purpose other than showing learning progress to you and your teacher.
AI features
Teachers can use AI assistance in a separate app, Kapi Studio, to help draft lessons from their own source material. Student answers and student personal information are not sent to AI models.
Who we share information with
- Your teacher and school. Teachers see the progress of students in their own classes. School or organization administrators may see class-level information for classes they run.
- Supabase. Our database, sign-in, and file storage run on Supabase, a cloud hosting provider that processes data on our instructions (see supabase.com/privacy).
- Google. Sign-in uses your school Google account (see policies.google.com/privacy). Google tells us who you are; we do not give Google your lesson data.
We do not sell personal information. We would disclose information if the law required it, and we would tell the affected school where legally possible.
Children's privacy
Kapi Learn is built for school use, including by students under 13. Students can only join through a class their teacher created, using the school's own Google accounts. We rely on schools and teachers to have the authority and any needed parental consent to set up classroom tools for their students. We collect only the information described on this page, and we never use student information for advertising. Parents and guardians can ask to review or delete their child's information at any time through the school or by contacting us at max@getanyapp.dev.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as it is reasonably necessary for the learning purpose it was collected for, never indefinitely, and we do not keep it for any other use. Our retention schedule:
- If you, your parent or guardian, or your school asks us to delete information, or a class or account is deleted, we remove the related personal information from the live service within 30 days.
- Student accounts with no activity for 24 months are deleted, together with their personal information.
- We may keep statistics that no longer identify anyone, such as how often a lesson type is used.
Security
Access to data is restricted by per-row security rules in our database, so students see their own data and teachers see only their own classes. Connections to the service are encrypted in transit.
Where data is stored
Kapi runs on cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase. Depending on where you live, this may mean your information is processed in another country. We apply the same protections described here wherever the data is processed.
Your rights
You (or your parent, guardian, or school, on your behalf) can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email max@getanyapp.dev and we will respond as quickly as we can. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the GDPR in Europe; we honor access, correction, deletion, and portability requests for everyone, regardless of location.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how student information is handled, we will tell schools and teachers ahead of time.
